Athul Iyju Jacob is a brand strategist and web developer who founded and ran Old Port Design LLP, a branding and digital agency in Bengaluru, before moving to Dubai. What Indian brands need to get right
Indian buyers compare a lot before they buy, especially online, so a D2C brand has to be clear in seconds: who it is for, why it costs what it costs, and why it can be trusted. Strong product pages, honest reviews, Instagram and WhatsApp, and a story that travels across languages and regions do most of the work.
Marketplaces matter as much as your own website, so the brand has to look consistent on Amazon, Flipkart and quick-commerce apps, not just on Instagram.
Going from India to the Gulf
Many Indian brands see the UAE as a natural first international market. It is close, culturally familiar and has a large Indian community, but it also has its own rules, pricing expectations and seasons. Because I live in Dubai and built my first agency in India, I can help you adapt the brand without losing what made it work at home.
